Anambra Poll: Forget 2027, Your Movement’s Dead, Lagos APC Taunts Obi

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has advised Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to abandon his 2027 ambition, saying the recent Anambra governorship election exposed the cracks within his political movement.

In a statement released on Sunday, November 9, the party’s spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, said the poor showing of the Labour Party in Obi’s home state reflected a sharp decline in the so-called “Obidient Movement.”

“The result, especially in Obi’s polling unit, showed that LP’s structure in his base was crumbling,” Oladejo said.

“Social media popularity cannot replace consistent political organisation and voter engagement. The Anambra election offers important lessons on structure and performance,” he added.

He noted that while President Bola Tinubu remained focused on governance and reforms, other political actors needed to “build real capacity beyond online noise.”

Oladejo added that the APC’s performance in Anambra demonstrated growing public confidence in the ruling party, emphasising that “good governance and delivery remain the strongest tools for political success.”

He also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission for conducting what he described as a peaceful and transparent election, and praised security agencies for maintaining order during the voting process.

“The result reaffirmed that electoral victories are earned through planning and performance,” Oladejo said. “Political actors should engage citizens constructively and strengthen their grassroots connections.”

The Lagos APC spokesman urged politicians to draw lessons from the Anambra election to improve future contests, stressing that “performance and structure will continue to define electoral outcomes in Nigeria.”

He congratulated APC members and supporters in Anambra for their resilience, noting that Lagos APC shared in their optimism for a stronger democratic process.

“All parties should prioritise peaceful campaigns and credible electoral participation,” he said. “Democracy grows when politicians respect the will of the people.”

Oladejo reaffirmed that the Lagos APC would continue to support policies that promote development, inclusion, and good governance across all levels
