Anambra Security Outfit to Arrest Women Walking Without Pants, Bras

A local security group in Anambra State has made a surprising announcement, pledging to take action against women spotted in public without bras or panties.

The statement, broadcasted through a public address system, spread rapidly after a video of it went viral on X, on February 16.

The security official in the video stated in Igbo that the controversial instruction came directly from Governor Chukwuma Soludo.

The official made it clear that women who were caught in public wearing only their underwear would be promptly taken into custody.q

The Anambra authorities have not yet released an official statement regarding the announcement.

In the wake of the announcement, former Senator Shehu Sani from Kaduna State raised questions about how the security forces would verify compliance by ladies and whether it would apply to men as well.

Following the announcement, former Senator Shehu Sani from has expressed concerns about how the security forces would confirm compliance from women and whether the same rules would apply to men.

Sharing his thoughts in a post shared on his X handle ( Formerly Twitter) on Monday, he wrote “Anambra’s Bra and Pant law; I don’t know if the Pant law is applicable to Men….and how can the security outfit verify ladies compliance?”
