Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Anambra State, Rt. Rev. Samuel Ezeofor, has advised parties contesting in the next governorship election in the state to zone the ticket to Anambra South Senatorial District.
According to him, this would foster equity, justice, and fair play in the state.
He spoke while presenting his charge at the first session of the sixth Synod of the diocese, at St. John the Divine Church, Oko in Orumba North Local Government.
The Prelate, also, implored the aspirants who were not from the district to jettison their aspirations in order to allow peace to reign in the state after the election.
His words: “The zoning of the governorship seat to the Anambra South Senatorial District should be supported. Governorship aspirants, who are not from the South should have a rethink, in the interest of equity, justice and fair play.”
While speaking on raging insecurity in the country, Ezeofor called on the Federal Government to employ a serious measure to checkmate the trend, adding that restructuring would also help the situation.
“The Federal Government should map out measures that will guarantee the safety of Nigerians wherever they live. It should also respect the sanctity of institutions in making appointments, especially the judiciary, to restore people’s confidence as the last hope of the common man,” he said.
