The All Progressives Congress has introduced a manual registration option for party members in parts of the North East, North West and North Central, where insecurity and damaged telecoms facilities have made internet access unreliable.
The party’s National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Bashiru, announced the decision on Monday, January 12, while briefing journalists in Abuja on the progress of the APC’s nationwide electronic membership registration.
The APC recently restarted the long delayed digital registration exercise after nearly two years of internal wrangling and leadership changes stalled its rollout.
The relaunch followed the training of state chairmen and secretaries in Abuja.
Bashiru explained that while the party is rolling out an online system nationwide ahead of the 2027 general elections, special arrangements are in place for communities where network coverage has been crippled by insurgency and banditry.
According to him, party members in such areas will be registered by hand, with their information uploaded once officials reach locations with connectivity.
“In areas where there are challenges, the data of intending members will be taken manually and uploaded later where there is access to data.

“This ensures that no member of our party is denied the opportunity to register because of insecurity or infrastructure failure,” he said.
He disclosed that more than two million members had already been registered within the first seven days of the exercise, describing the response as impressive.
Bashiru added that the figure keeps rising as entries are uploaded to the party’s server in real time and predicted that it could reach eight million by next week.
The APC secretary said the digital platform strengthens credibility because it requires verifiable information, including a valid phone number and a voter registration number, making fake entries impossible.
Bashiru also clarified that states are not starting the registration at the same time, as each one has been allowed to launch when fully prepared.
“While some states have already flagged off, others are expected to begin and upload their data in the coming days,” he said.
On fears of exclusion, Bashiru said the party’s leadership, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, had ordered that no group be shut out of the process.
“This registration is open to all. No faction, group or interest is barred. Once you meet the requirements, you can register in the ward where you intend to participate politically,” he said.
He declined to give a state by state breakdown of the two million people already registered, calling such figures the party’s “internal trade secrets.”
Bashiru maintained that the APC remains a pan Nigerian party with strong structures across every region of the country.
