The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has openly acknowledged the strength of Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, admitting that the All Progressives Congress (APC) views him as a serious political force.
Speaking on the 7th of July, 2025, during the launch of Enugu Air in the state capital, Keyamo noted that Mbah’s visible strides in governance have placed him among Nigeria’s top-performing governors, making him a tough opponent politically.
“I want to mirror what the president said the other day to commission a project. Dr Peter Mbah, you’re in PDP, but we’re scared of you.
“The way you’re going, we don’t know what will happen, and we don’t know how to drop a scheme to defeat you, but we will be planning.
“Beyond the party line, we should not be afraid to say it. You have a progressive spirit, you’ve done well for Enugu State, and you’re one of the best performing governors,” he said.

Keyamo admitted that the APC would need to develop new strategies if it hopes to challenge Mbah in future political contests.
While praising the governor’s performance, the minister cautioned against any form of mismanagement in the new state-run airline.
He advised the government to keep political interests away from the day-to-day operations of Enugu Air to allow it function efficiently and serve the public well.
