Funmi, the ex-wife of former presidential candidate Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, has described as reckless and baseless the claim that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is sponsoring her to attack her former husband.
In a statement issued on Monday, October 13, Funmi accused Olawepo-Hashim of using diversionary tactics to avoid addressing her allegations of child neglect.
Last week, she accused the politician of neglecting their twin children and failing to pay their school fees and upkeep in the United Kingdom.
She cited a judgment by Justice Gladys Olotu of the Federal High Court, Abuja, ordering Olawepo-Hashim and his company to pay ₦300 million in damages for breach of corporate governance.
According to her, since their separation in 2017, Olawepo-Hashim has not communicated with their twin children for nine years and has ignored repeated reminders about unpaid tuition and other responsibilities.

Olawepo-Hashim, in response, alleged that some members of the APC were using his ex-wife to discredit him ahead of the 2027 general elections, calling the allegations against him a political smear campaign.
But Funmi dismissed the claim as “completely false, malicious, and a desperate attempt to distract from his long-standing pattern of neglect, both parental and financial.”
She also denied ever attempting to frame him up with the UK Government or the National Intelligence Agency, saying such suggestions were unfounded.
“Was it any political party or individual that directed him to abandon his duties as a father for over nine years?
“Was it the APC that stopped him from paying his children’s school fees or providing for their upkeep? These were his personal choices, and he alone must take full responsibility for them,” she stated.
