The Gombe State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has insisted that former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Ali Isa Pantami, remains a member of the party, saying his alleged resignation did not follow due process.
The party also dismissed claims linking Pantami’s reported defection to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and his governorship ambition in Gombe State to any endorsement by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
APC Publicity Secretary in the state, Moses Kyari, told journalists in Gombe on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, that Pantami’s ward executive did not properly receive or consider any resignation letter attributed to him.
He said 25 of the 27 ward executive members described the resignation claim as “a fabrication” not approved by the committee.
Kyari also cited the Ward Chairman, Alhaji Bala Galda, who reportedly said the letter was received on May 23, 2026, though dated May 19, 2026, and delivered by one Abba Pantami.

According to him, ward officials were not given access to the document despite repeated requests.
He maintained that under the APC Constitution, Electoral Act, and INEC guidelines, Pantami remains a member until resignation procedures are properly completed and verified.
The APC also rejected claims allegedly made in a televised interview on TVC Communications that Pantami’s political move had President Tinubu’s backing, describing the assertion as false.
Kyari said Tinubu remains committed to the APC and would not support actions that undermine party unity.
He pointed to the APC’s performance in Gombe State under Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, citing gains in governance, infrastructure, peace, and political stability.
The party urged the APC national leadership and the Presidency to clarify the matter to prevent misinformation, reaffirming its commitment to due process and internal unity.
