The Commander of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), Brigadier Kingsley C. Uwa, convened a crucial stakeholders’ security meeting on Wednesday, the 26th of November, 2025, at the Palace of the Chief of Ibi, Taraba State, to address escalating local tensions.
During the meeting, the Commander made a strong appeal for a renewed commitment to peaceful coexistence in Ibi local government council of Taraba State, simultaneously delivering a firm warning that security forces will no longer tolerate actions capable of triggering violence.
Brigadier Uwa stated that the gathering was necessary to confront the persistent communal tensions and rising criminal activities that are negatively impacting several communities within the area.
He specifically condemned recent reports indicating that certain individuals were actively preventing farmers from harvesting their crops. The Brigadier described such acts as dangerous provocations that hold the potential to escalate into violent clashes. He emphasised that security agencies would henceforth respond decisively to anyone involved in such misconduct.
