Troops of the Joint Task Force South East, Operation UDO KA, have dismantled a suspected terrorist hideout, rescued three kidnapped victims and recovered a cache of weapons and ammunition during an operation in Anambra State.
In a statement shared by the Nigerian army on its Facebook page on Friday, the operation was conducted by troops of 185 Battalion in collaboration with the Anambra Vigilante Group as part of ongoing efforts to disrupt terrorist and kidnapping networks operating in the South-East.
The security operation followed the abduction of three persons around the Osakwa General Area of Ihiala Local Government Area.
Troops and members of the vigilante group subsequently launched a rescue operation and successfully recovered the victims.
On October 1, 2026, troops conducted an operation which led to the arrest of a suspected kidnapper identified as Sunday Obi.
According to the military, the suspect provided information that led troops to the location of a suspected criminal syndicate’s camp at Abator in Ogbaru Local Government Area, across the Isieke waterside.
Acting on the intelligence, troops launched an operation to the identified location, using canoes to cross the waterways and access the hideout.
It was gathered that the troops engaged the suspected terrorists with superior firepower, forcing them to flee, some reportedly with gunshot wounds.

The troops recovered two AK-47 rifles with magazines, three pump-action guns and three locally fabricated Dane guns.
Also recovered were 62 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, 149 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition and two cartridges.
Materials suspected to be intended for the fabrication of improvised explosive devices were also recovered.
The troops further recovered items believed to have supported the group’s operational and logistical activities, including a solar generator, power bank, car battery, two motorcycle batteries, two solar panels and two mobile phones.
The military said the recovered weapons and equipment provided additional intelligence on the logistics supporting terrorist and kidnapping activities in the area.
The military said Operation UDO KA would continue to conduct coordinated kinetic and intelligence-driven operations aimed at dismantling terrorist enclaves, disrupting their supply chains and denying criminal elements safe havens across the South-East.
