Troops from the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army on Saturday, rescued 20 persons who had been kidnapped along the Takum/Mararaba Road in Taraba State.
The rescue operation involved a fierce gun battle with the abductors.
According to a source who disclosed to Security Analyst, Counter Insurgency Expert said that the operation took place at about 9:50 p.m. following credible intelligence about a kidnapping incident at Muji town.
A contingent bolstered by 67 personnel from the Police Mobile Force (PMF) based in Samta quickly sprang into action against the kidnappers.

In the intense exchange of gunfire that followed, the heavily armed criminals, unable to withstand the superior firepower of the security forces, ultimately abandoned their hostages and retreated into the forest.
Among those rescued were Yakubu Usman of Angwan Abuja and Godwin Peter of Angwan Dadin Kowa, who sustained injuries and were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
The troops also recovered vehicles abandoned at the scene.
