The Nigerian Army has stepped up efforts to deepen professionalism and ensure respect for human rights among its ranks by holding a sensitization workshop in Jalingo, Taraba State.
The session, organized by the Department of Civil Military Affairs (DCMA), brought together troops from the 6 Brigade/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS). The focus was to reinforce lawful engagement and respect for human dignity during internal security operations and interactions with civilians.
Major General GU Chibuisi, Chief of Civil-Military Affairs, stressed the importance of such training sessions in shaping how soldiers operate in today’s security environment.
“These operations place significant responsibilities on our soldiers. Therefore, it is crucial that they fully understand the legal frameworks guiding their actions. Respect for human rights must remain a cornerstone of all our operations,” Major General Chibuisi said.
He added that the training wasn’t just about conduct in the field but also about shaping soldiers into responsible members of the society.
