Influencer and content creator Asherkine has responded to criticism surrounding a viral video in which he surprised 21-year-old Chiamaka Clare, a canteen worker from Ogun State, with a trip to South Africa.
The footage, showing Clare enjoying the luxury experience, quickly went viral and sparked debate on social media.
Some viewers questioned the authenticity of the encounter, suggesting that Clare’s lifestyle appeared inconsistent with her job and implying that the video may have been staged.
On Tuesday, March 10, 2026, Asherkine took to X (formerly Twitter) to address the skepticism.

He clarified that Clare has family in Lagos, making travel between Ogun State and the city feasible, and emphasized that the video was filmed over a week, not in a single day as some critics assumed.
He wrote:
“I understand that some people may find it hard to believe a young adult can work in Ogun State while also looking the way she does. She has a sister in Lagos, it’s a two-hour drive, and she’s 21. I won’t let unfair criticism undermine this experience for her or the videos I create. Most of my videos take place over a day, but this one spanned a week after our first meeting. I’m unsure how it appears as a 48-hour livestream.”
Asherkine’s clarification highlights the careful planning behind the trip and reinforces the authenticity of the experience, while reaffirming his commitment to creating content that surprises and uplifts ordinary Nigerians.
