ASUU Denies Issuing 21-Day Strike Notice to FG

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has dismissed circulating reports that claim it has issued a 21-day strike notice to the Federal Government.

The reports, which surfaced online, suggested that the union was planning to embark on a nationwide strike over the non-implementation of agreements previously reached with the government.

The speculated notice was allegedly issued following a meeting of ASUU’s National Executive Council (NEC) at the University of Ibadan, Oyo State.

However, ASUU President Emmanuel Osodeke, when contacted by DAILY POST, refuted the claims, describing them as mere “social media talk.”

He emphasized that any decision to take action would be communicated officially to the public.

“All those things are just social media talks. When we want to do anything, we announce it formally and we will send you a copy,” Osodeke stated.

This clarification comes amidst ongoing concerns over the state of agreements between ASUU and the Federal Government, which have been a source of tension in the education sector.

The union’s reassurance suggests that no immediate industrial action is on the horizon, contrary to the rumors circulating online.
