ADC chieftain and Kogi lawmaker Leke Abejide, has cautioned Nigerians against placing their hopes in coalition leaders such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Senate President David Mark, former governors Rauf Aregbesola, Nasir El-Rufai, and Rotimi Amaechi.
In an interview on the Mic On podcast, seen by First News correspondent on Monday, August 11, Abejide dismissed the idea that these figures could deliver better governance than President Bola Tinubu.
“Did Nigerians enjoy during their own time? All of them (Atiku, Aregbesola, Amaechi, David Mark, El-Rufai) have governed before, none of them have not been in government.
“So Nigerians enjoyed during their period? Are they coming from heaven? Are they angels? What can they do better than Asiwaju now?,” he said.

Abejide argued that the country was not better off under their leadership and stressed that Tinubu’s current reforms, though challenging, are aimed at repositioning the economy.
“When I came in as a Rep member, I said I was going to do things differently that are different from my predecessors.
“If I’m not doing it well, I won’t have been winning from an unknown party, so Asiwaju is doing something different to reposition the economy. He is doing very well,” Abejide added.
The lawmaker pointed to ongoing developments in his own constituency as evidence that change is possible under Tinubu’s leadership.
“When you go to my constituency and see the on-going projects, it has never happened. These reforms definitely come with pains and if you notice now, the pain is not as much as when it started,” Abejide said.
