Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar met with his former boss, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Monday, but dismissed speculations that the visit was politically motivated.

Atiku, who was the 2023 presidential candidate for the PDP, clarified that the meeting had nothing to do with the 2027 election.

“I was not in Abeokuta to see Obasanjo because of 2027,” he said, calling the visit a simple courtesy.

He added, “It is a courtesy visit. I’m not going to talk about 2027 or politics. I’m not here because of 2027.”

Arriving at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) at around 12:36pm, Atiku proceeded to the Penthouse for the closed-door meeting with Obasanjo.

His entourage included Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi, former governors Liyel Imoke and Aminu Tambuwal, and Obasanjo’s close friend, Otunba Oyewole Fasawe, among others.

This is not Atiku’s first visit to Obasanjo; he had previously met with the former president during the 2023 presidential election buildup.
