Atiku Warns Presidency, INEC, Judiciary Against Interference In ADC Affairs

Former Vice President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) 2027 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has warned against interference in the party’s internal affairs by the Presidency, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), or the judiciary, saying such actions would be resisted.

He issued the warning on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, shortly after emerging as the ADC presidential flag bearer after defeating former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen in the party’s primary election.

In a post on his verified X account, Atiku thanked the party for the mandate, describing his emergence as a product of internal democracy within the ADC and its coalition structure.

He alleged attempts to undermine opposition platforms and weaken coalition arrangements, insisting that the ADC’s structure and legitimacy had been targeted.

“Any further attempt to interfere in the affairs of the party by the Presidency, INEC and judiciary will be fiercely resisted. Enough is enough,” he wrote.

His emergence followed a closely contested primary, while the ADC has yet to officially respond to his remarks.
