Afrobeats sensation Sarah Aderibigbe, popularly known as Ayra Starr, has disclosed that she recently underwent major surgery, revealing that her recovery has been more challenging than initially anticipated.
The singer shared the update through a post on her Instagram Story on Thursday, apologising to fans for her limited presence on social media in recent days.
According to the award-winning artiste, she had expected a swift recovery but later discovered that the procedure was more complicated than anticipated.
“Hey Mobstarrs, I’m sorry you’re not seeing as much of me as I would like. I had major surgery a few days ago. I was hoping it would be a quick recovery, but it was more complicated than they expected,” she wrote.
She reassured her supporters that she was gradually recuperating and would return to her regular activities after getting sufficient rest.
“I just need a bit of rest, and I’ll be back. Starrgirl is coming so soon. I need everyone out there spreading the word. Tell your friends, your family, your neighbours. Order Starrgirl ASAP,” she added.
In another post, the singer urged fans to pre-order her forthcoming project, revealing that she had personally signed copies of her first vinyl and compact disc inserts.
“Hey Mobstarrs. I’m signing my first vinyl and CD inserts. Go to shop.ayrastarr.com. Go get your vinyl and your signed CDs,” she said.
The announcement comes shortly after excitement grew over the release of the official trailer for the Hollywood fantasy film Children of Blood and Bone, which marks Ayra Starr’s acting debut.
The film features an impressive cast that includes Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Cynthia Erivo, Damson Idris and veteran Nigerian actor Richard Mofe-Damijo.
The singer’s revelation immediately prompted an outpouring of support from fans across social media, with many wishing her a speedy recovery while expressing anticipation for the release of her highly anticipated project, Starrgirl.
