Babangida’s Son Denies Rejecting Bank of Agriculture Appointment

Mohammed Babangida, son of former military president Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, has denied turning down his recent appointment as Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture.

The Federal Government had announced his appointment last week along with seven others.

But by Monday, July 21, a letter began circulating widely on social media, claiming Babangida had written to President Bola Tinubu to reject the offer, citing personal and professional reasons.

The letter quickly drew attention, but Babangida wasted no time in clearing the air.

Through a statement from the Ibrahim Babangida Media Office in Minna, he dismissed the letter as fake and politically motivated.

Speaking over the phone, Mahmud Abdullahi, the spokesperson for the Media Office, said Babangida described the letter as a complete fabrication.

“It is a concocted letter from disgruntled elements. I am ready to serve as the chairman of the Bank of Agriculture,” Babangida was quoted as saying.

Abdullahi also pointed out several flaws in the letter that proved it was forged, including a fake signature and a phone number that doesn’t belong to Babangida.

“There is no truth in that letter. The members of the public should disregard it,” he added.

With that, Babangida reaffirmed his readiness to take on the new role, making it clear that the viral rejection letter holds no merit.
