…many drown in river in efforts to escape
Bandits on Saturday staged a fresh attack on Niger State, kidnapping several women and children.
The fresh attack was launched against Gurmana, a village in Niger State around 4:pm by the criminals who stormed the place in military uniform.
It was learnt that many of the villagers drowned in a river while making efforts to escape from the attackers.
The fresh attack was confirmed by a former Kaduna Central senator, Shehu Sani.
Sani wrote on his official Twitter account on Sunday, “Bandits in Military uniform attacked Gurmana, a village in Niger State around 4pm yesterday (Saturday).
“They abducted mostly women and children. Some who tried to escape drowned in the River Kaduna.
“I spoke to one of the survivors, a teacher, now seeking refuge in Kuta,Niger State. A tragedy, a day.”
This is coming as several people, traveling in the state owned bus and abducted by bandits as well as the Kagara students and their teachers abducted earlier last week are still in the captivity of the bandit.
