Bandits kidnap over 100 students in Zamfara gov’s hometown

No fewer than 100 students of Government Day Secondary School Kaya in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State have been kidnapped by bandits.

First News gathered that the criminals invaded the school located in the hometown of the state Governor, Bello Matawalle at about 11:00 am on Wednesday when the school was in session.

An eyewitness said the number of the abducted students were not yet know but that over 100 were whisked away by the invaders.

“We are yet to identify the actual number of students abducted but we believed that they would reach 100”, an indigene if the area, Malam Abu Kaya, told the Punch.

According to him, the school has a population of over 300 students.

He said the incident has left the whole town deserted as the people fear that the bandits could return.

The spokesperson of the state Police Command, SP Mohammed Shehu is yet to confirm the matter as efforts to him failed.
