Bandits have once again kidnapped 30 people in Jangaru village in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State.
The latest incident in the state, it was learnt, happened early hours of Monday, March 8, after the criminals invaded the village which is close to Zungeru town, where series of kidnappings, including that of the abduction of travellers in the Niger State Transport vehicle took place.
A source said that the bandits, heavily armed, sneaked into the village on foot to avoid awareness of the villagers. They were said to have hidden their motorcycles far away from the village and trekked from their “Park” to the village and rounded up their victims while they were asleep.
The bandits, it was gathered did not shoot any gun but threatened to harm the villagers if they fail to corporate with them.
The source said that the villagers, afraid for their lives, trekked along with bandits to where they parked their Motorcycles. The criminals, forcing them into the motorcycle, it was gathered that the bandits drove their victims into the forest and nothing have been heard about them since then.
It was gathered that the villagers who escaped the kidnappers raised alarm after the victims were whisked away, at which time it was too late to trail the kidnappers.
Efforts to contact the Police Command to confirm the incident did not succeed at the time of filing the story.
Meanwhile, a senior local government official in the area who did not want his name mentioned, confirmed the incident and described it as unfortunate.
