The Bauchi State Police Command has deployed additional security personnel and upgraded weaponry to troubled areas in a renewed effort to curb banditry and maintain law and order.
At a press briefing on Thursday, Police Public Relations Officer, Nafiu Habib, said the deployment targets communities in Gwana, Digare, and Kafin Duguri in Alkaleri Local Government Area, following a recent surge in security concerns.
“After a thorough assessment, the Command, in collaboration with sister security agencies, has initiated a massive deployment of joint security personnel to suppress criminal activities in the affected communities,” Habib stated.
The operation involves a coordinated effort between the police, the military, the Department of State Services, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and other security agencies, with the support of the Bauchi State Government.
Habib noted that the collaborative efforts have begun yielding positive results.
The police spokesman reassured residents of Mansur town, who had reportedly fled their homes due to fear of attacks, that the town remains unaffected and the security situation is under control.
“Despite recent incidents in neighbouring Gwana District, Mansur town remains safe. There is no cause for alarm,” Habib said, adding that operatives are working tirelessly to ensure peace and stability.

The Command also emphasized that bandits would find no safe haven in Alkaleri LGA, and security operations would be sustained.
Habib highlighted the critical role of community cooperation, urging residents to promptly report suspicious movements, unfamiliar faces, or objects to security agencies.
“All information provided by residents will be treated with strict confidentiality. Citizens are encouraged to take advantage of the improved security measures and continue with their lawful activities without fear,” he added.
The operation is part of a broader strategy by the Bauchi State Police to reinforce security and restore public confidence in areas previously affected by criminal activities.
