Bayelsa APC has no faction, says Secretary

ODAHIEKWU OGUNDE, Yenagoa

Secretary of the Extraordinary Caretaker Committee of the All Progressives Congress, Bayelsa State, Mr Alabo Martins has said that there is no faction in the party in the state.

Martins spoke on Saturday in Yenagoa, the state capital, against the backdrop of the reported opening of a parallel state secretariat by some aggrieved persons in the party.

One-time Vice Chairman, Central, Ebierin Fala Itubo and a former Deputy Chairman, Chief Ogeibiri Orubebe, had reportedly opened a factional secretariat at Biogbolo on Isaac Boro Expressway, Yenagoa.

Williams maintained that the Minister for State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva, remained the leader of the party in the state.

He said that the party operates fully at the state Secretariat at Yenizue-Gene along the Melford Okilo Expressway in the state capital.

“He calls himself Chairman of the party, that tells you that they don’t know what they are doing. Have they attended NEC meetings any day?

That’s to tell you that they are jokers,” he said.

He noted that Jotham Amos remained the Chairman of the Extraordinary Caretaker Committee, adding that the duo of Orubebe and Itubo were suspended from the party for anti-party activities last year and therefore have no locus to claim any positions in the APC.

“The secretariat being talked about is an office of one of APC’s governoship aspirants, Hon. Heineken Lokpobiri, in the last election and not a state secretariat as they claimed,” he said.
