Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, and former Commissioner for Information, Daniel Iworiso-markson, have expressed gratitude to the people of the state for demonstrating their love and support for the Peoples Democratic Party in Saturday’s senatorial bye-elections.
Ewhrudjakpo, in a congratulatory message by his media aide, Mr Doubara Atasi, thanked the electorate in Bayelsa West and Central Senatorial districts for massively voting the PDP candidates, a development, he noted, had further proved the dominance of the party in Bayelsa politics.
He also appreciated the PDP family, officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, security agencies and well-meaning opposition parties for their various efforts that culminated in the peaceful conduct of the elections.
He congratulated the Senator-elect for Bayelsa West and former governor of the state, Chief Seriake Dickson as well as his Bayelsa Central counterpart, Mr Moses Cleopas, on their landslide victories at the polls.
Describing the electoral success of the duo as well deserved, Ewhrudjakpo assured the people that the PDP senators-elect have what it takes to effectively represent not only their districts but also the entire state and Ijaw nation.
On his part, Iworiso-Markson said Dickson’s landslide victory was a reflection of his popularity and acceptance by the people of the zone and the state at large.
In a statement in Yenagoa, the former commissioner said the overwhelming victory of Dickson was also a show of appreciation by the people for the good work he did during his eight year-tenure as governor.
He said the voting margin indicated that the people did not struggle with their choice of who to represent them at the upper chamber and recognised him as the most qualified to speak for them.
Iworiso-Markson commended the people of the zone for their peaceful conduct before, during and after the election with their display of political maturity and peace, which are the key messages that Dickson always preaches.
