Bayelsa State government is set to collaborate with the Federal Ministry of Labour, Employment and Productivity to train youths in the state.
The state Commissioner for Labour, Employment and Productivity, Stanley Braboke, stated this during a meeting on Friday with delegates from the Bayelsa State Office of the federal ministry in his office in Yenagoa.
Braboke noted that skills development training programmes for youths in the state was critical to the state government.
He added that such programmes would ensure self-reliance among youths and equally make them employers of labour.
He further said that the ministry’s readiness to collaborate with its counterpart, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment was part of its efforts in ensuring more training programmes for youths in the state.
Braboke, however, expressed interest to visit the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, and in turn have the minister visit the state.
He noted that the meeting would foster a mutual working relationship between the ministries that would be beneficial to the state.
On his part, the State Controller, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, Bayelsa State Office, Mr. Powei Francis, implored the state government to establish more training centres in the state to boost productivity among the youths.
He, however, assured the commissioner of his support in ensuring a productive collaboration between both ministries.
