Bayelsa Gov Diri Mourns Late Olubadan, Condoles Oyo Govt, Ibadan Indigenes

Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, describing the late monarch as a revered unifier and father figure.

In a condolence message released on Tuesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Daniel Alabrah, Governor Diri extended heartfelt sympathies to Governor Seyi Makinde, the Oyo State Government, and the people of Ibadanland.

The governor praised Oba Olakulehin’s role as a bridge builder who fostered unity among his people and promoted peaceful coexistence during his reign. He noted that the monarch’s leadership created a conducive environment for growth and development across Ibadan and Oyo State.

Governor Diri also recalled receiving the “Most Outstanding Friend of Ibadan (MOFI)” award from the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes in May 2025. The honour, presented to him by the late Olubadan through Otun Balogun and former Oyo Governor, Senator Rasheed Ladoja, underscored the warm relationship between Bayelsa and Ibadan.
