Bayelsa guber: Gunmen in military uniform storm Ogbia, arrest PDP coordinators, agents

Gunmen dressed in military uniforms have invaded some wards in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State and embarked on mass intimidation and arrest of Peoples Democratic Party agents and coordinators.

The gunmen in military uniforms, suspected to be impostors, ordered agents on duty and electorate waiting to cast their votes to leave the venue, but some of them refused.

An agent of the PDP told newsmen at Kolo community in Ogbia area, that “armed men just arrived in kolo now and arrested our unit coordinators and took over our polling units. We need urgent intervention, please”.

At Nembe Bassambiri, all the materials for the seven wards have been hijacked by the gunmen suspected to belong to the APC. A voter told newsmen that “up till now, no materials or INEC officials in these wards. Let the state REC do something about it. Ward11 agent reporting from Okoroba community in Nembe LGA”.

Another agent of the PDP declared that “INEC election monitors should be questioned why the materials have not left Basambiri for the various wards”.

At Ward 10, Unit 2 of Oguama1 in Nembe, armed APC members at about 11.28am stopped voting process and demanded for the serial numbers of BVAS being used for voting.
