ODAHIEKWU OGUNDE, Yenagoa

Bayelsa State government has warned contractors handling different projects in the state not to fail in meeting the completion deadlines.

The Chairman, Directorate for Project Monitoring and Evaluation (DPME), Mr Ebiye Tarabina, gave the warning yesterday while inspecting some ongoing legacy projects in the state.

He said Governor Douye Diri was deeply concerned about the completion of the projects on the agreed dates and would not accept the contrary.

He, therefore, charged the contractors to redouble their efforts in order to meet the completion deadlines so that they don’t incur the wrath of the government.

Tarabina, accompanied by members of the board, heads of department, engineers, reporters and support staff of the directorate, inspected the Igbogene-Tombia road project and others.

He commended the contractor handling the project for the speed and quality of work achieved so far on the project.

Though he expressed delight at the level of work done on the Yenagoa-Oporoma road project, he urged the contractor to  increase the pace for the timely completion of the project.

He said Douye Diri-led administration was fully committed to the completion of all ongoing projects in the state and urged Bayelsans to continually give their support to the government for the common good of the people.

Tarabina said construction work on the projects was advancing at a commendable speed because of the commitment of the government to provide critical infrastructure for the good people of the state.

He assured Bayelsans that the specifications and scope of the projects would not be altered as the directorate would spare no effort in ensuring that contractors execute their jobs in line with their contractual agreements.

The site manager,CCECC, the company handling the Yenagoa-Oporoma road project, Henry Zhang, appreciated the government for the project.

He stated that with the determination of the present administration, the project would be completed on record time.

Other ongoing projects inspected by the team were the Igbedi Road,  AIT-Igbogene road and the Elebele Bridge.
