‘Blow the Whistle Even If It’s Your Family Members’, EFCC Urges Nigerians

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday issued a bold call to action, urging Nigerians to report anyone involved in economic and financial crimes regardless of their relationship to the offender.

In the post shared on the anti-graft agency’s Facebook page on Thursday, captioned ‘Blow that whistle even if it is your father, Mother, brother, sister, lover, or extended family members,’ the Commission advised that even if is your father, Mother, Brother, Sister, Lover, or extended family members is found culpable of economic and financial crimes you should blow that whistle.

The EFCC emphasised that no one is above the law and encouraged citizens to actively participate in the fight against corruption by exposing individuals engaged in fraudulent activities, even within their own families.

As part of the campaign, the EFCC also announced that whistleblowers who provide credible information leading to successful convictions will receive a substantial reward.

The statement is part of the EFCC’s ongoing efforts to bolster public involvement in the anti-corruption crusade and reinforce the message that shielding criminals, even loved ones, contributes to the nation’s economic woes.

The agency urged the public to make use of its secure whistleblowing channels and promised confidentiality and protection for informants.

This latest move highlights the EFCC’s intensified crackdown on financial crimes and its focus on civic responsibility as a tool to combat corruption in Nigeria.
