Bode George Slams Ibadan Judgement, Questions Legitimacy Of Wike Faction

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George, has expressed strong outrage over the recent Ibadan court judgement recognising a faction of the party aligned with former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.

Speaking in reaction to the ruling, George described the judgement as disturbing and fundamentally flawed, insisting that it failed to address the core issues brought before the court. His comments were shared by ARISE News via its official X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday.

According to the former Deputy National Chairman of the PDP, the party’s nationally recognised convention held in Ibadan followed due process and was duly monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in line with established party procedures.

He questioned the legitimacy of the rival Wike-backed convention, asking where and how it was conducted and whether INEC monitored it at all.

“INEC monitored the National Convention of our party in Ibadan, as that is the party’s procedure. It is curious to know where and how the convention of the Wike faction was monitored, if at all,” George said.

He further accused the court of veering away from the substantive issues before it, adding that the judgement did not reflect the facts presented during proceedings.

Describing himself as “absolutely disgusted,” George disclosed that steps were already being taken to challenge the ruling at the appellate level.

“We will appeal this judgement,” he stated firmly, signalling that the legal battle over the party’s leadership structure is far from over.

The judgement has intensified internal tensions within the PDP, deepening divisions among rival blocs and raising fresh concerns about party unity ahead of future electoral contests.

Political observers warn that prolonged legal and factional disputes could further weaken the opposition party unless swiftly resolved.
