Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Bode George, has taken a swipe at members pushing for the party’s 2027 presidential ticket to be zoned to the North, describing such agitation as “selfish and manipulative.”
He made the remark on Tuesday during an interview on Lunchtime Politics, a Channels Television programme.
George applauded PDP governors and the National Executive Council, NEC, for endorsing the ticket for the South while allowing the chairmanship to remain in the North.
“Unanimously, in that NEC meeting yesterday (Monday), we agreed to zone the ticket to the south for the next four years to complete the eight years in the south. I must emphatically thank all our governors; they are respectable young men,” he said.

He maintained that the decision had restored stability in the PDP, noting that some members who left were already returning because “fairness and equity must prevail.”
Addressing concerns about members such as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, who worked against the party during the 2023 elections, George stressed that the PDP would not act hastily on disciplinary matters.
