The body of former President Muhammadu Buhari has arrived at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua International Airport in Katsina, ahead of his final interment in Daura, his hometown.
The remains were transported from London aboard a Nigerian Air Force aircraft and received with a brief but solemn military ceremony attended by top government officials, dignitaries, and members of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, along with governors, ministers, National Assembly members, and presidential aides, was present at the airport to receive the late president’s body.
Buhari, who died on Sunday at the age of 82 in a London hospital, is scheduled to be buried later today according to Islamic rites.

A state funeral has been organised to honour his life and service to the nation, with the Federal Government declaring a public holiday and observing a seven-day national mourning period.
Following the ceremony in Katsina, the body will be transported to Daura for the Jana’iza (funeral prayer) and interment at his private residence.
The funeral will be attended by dignitaries from across the country and abroad, as tributes continue to pour in for the late statesman who served Nigeria both as a military and civilian leader.
