The Borno State Police Command has recovered gold valued at ₦23.6 million for a woman who had buried the items in sand while fleeing a Boko Haram attack 15 years ago in Mallam Fatori.
According to a statement on Monday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Daso, the woman recently returned to the area and sought police assistance to retrieve her valuables. The recovered items included 22 cc of gold valued at approximately ₦20 million and a gold bracelet with a chain worth ₦3.6 million.
Daso said the Borno State Police Commissioner, Naziru Abdulmajid, commended the Divisional Police Officer of Mallam Fatori and his team for their professionalism, integrity, and dedication in recovering the items.

“The officers’ actions reflect the core values of the Nigeria Police Force and further strengthen public confidence in law enforcement,” the statement noted.
The commissioner also reaffirmed the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property and urged residents to continue cooperating with the police to enhance security across the state.
