The management of Bovas and company Limited had debunked a report on social media which claimed that the company is giving free petrol to Nigerians.

The company, while describing the report as nothing but fake, urged Nigerians to disregard the information which may be from suspected hackers aiming to defraud them.

FirstNews had obtained a report that the oil company was giving 15 liters of petrol to Nigerians with a link to click before having access to the free petrol gift.

The fake message read that “MRS TEMITOPE SAMSSON (The Present Director of BOVAS fuel station).

Hereby announce that free 15 LITREs of fuel should be distributed to over 100,000 citizens of Nigeria due to current hike in fuel that affects both growth and living of the citizens.

To make this free fuel distribution more easier Registration is said to be carried out online in order to get ticket for the free fuel. Once you generate your ticket, you must not share it with third party and You can only apply once.”

Reacting to the message, Bovas in a disclaimer on its Twitter handle, @Bovas group said, “We, Bovas and company have seen a particular message making rounds inviting people to complete a form that will get them free petrol from the company, if a ticket is generated from a certain link us clicked. This message did not emanate from Bovas.”

Meanwhile, a member of the company who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the message was the handiwork of some mischief makers who are envious of the good services that Bovas render to Nigerians, especially during fuel scarcity.

The oil company headed by Mrs. Victoria Samson had received several accolades from Nigerians for outstanding services rendered to Nigerians, especially in recent times.
