About five soldiers have again lost their lives in Rivers State following a fresh attack by unknown gunmen in Omelema community, Abia Local Government Area of Rivers State.
FirstNews learnt that the gunmen, who came river shot sporadically as they went to the place where the soldiers were camped and opened fire at them. Two of the soldiers, it was learnt, died on the spot.
The attack, which happened at about 11 pm on Monday came after gunmen suspected to be Indigenous People of Biafra members on Saturday attacked and killed eight operatives at security checkpoints in Rivers State.
The Nigerian Army in Port Harcourt is yet to confirm the report as efforts to have its spokesman, Major Charles Ekeocha, respond to the story as of the time of filing this report was unsuccessful.
