BREAKING: Police Arrest Omoyele Sowore

Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore has been reportedly arrested by the Nigeria Police at the Federal High Court in Abuja, on Thursday, the 23rd of October, 2025.

The news was shared by human rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong in a post on X, where he accused the police and President Bola Tinubu’s administration of disrespecting the judiciary.

Effiong wrote: “The arrest of Omoyele Sowore at the Federal High Court in Abuja moments ago is preposterous.

“The police and the Tinubu regime are making a mockery of our judicial system. He should be freed immediately. Stop the shenanigans.”

Before the incident, Sowore had posted on Facebook that he was at the Federal High Court with Kanu Agabi, the lead counsel representing Nnamdi Kanu.

He said Agabi informed him that his legal team planned to withdraw from the case, leaving Kanu to face the trial without legal representation.
