BREAKING: Yilwatda Emerges APC National Chairman as Party Sets Sights on 2027

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Nentawe Yilwatda, has been selected as the new National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

His emergence was officially announced on Thursday during the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the ruling party held in Abuja. The high-level meeting brought together APC stakeholders and party leaders to assess internal structures and set a new strategic course ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Yilwatda, a technocrat and former gubernatorial candidate in Plateau State, replaces Abdullahi Ganduje, whose tenure had drawn internal scrutiny and calls for leadership renewal within the party.

In his acceptance remarks, Yilwatda expressed gratitude to party leaders for their confidence and vowed to reposition the APC for electoral victory and internal cohesion.

“This is a defining moment for our party. I am committed to promoting inclusiveness, strengthening our grassroots structures, and ensuring the APC remains the party of progress for all Nigerians,” he said.

His appointment signals a shift toward reform and revitalization within the APC, as the party begins early preparations for what is expected to be a highly competitive electoral season in 2027.

Political analysts view Yilwatda’s leadership as a strategic choice aimed at blending governance experience with grassroots appeal, particularly in northern Nigeria where the party seeks to consolidate its support.

Further announcements and appointments are expected in the coming days as the APC leadership reshuffles to align with its new direction.
