American pop icon Britney Spears has reportedly checked herself into a rehabilitation facility following her recent arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence near Los Angeles.
According to multiple United States media reports on Sunday, the 44-year-old singer voluntarily sought treatment weeks after being taken into custody by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department in early March.
Spears was arrested on suspicion of DUI and later released shortly after booking. At the time, her representative described the incident as “completely inexcusable,” adding that the singer would take responsibility and comply with legal requirements.
While the exact date she entered the treatment facility remains unclear, Spears is expected to appear in court on May 4 in connection with the case, according to local reports.

The development marks another chapter in the life of the globally renowned artist, who rose to fame in the late 1990s with chart-topping hits such as “…Baby One More Time.”
her 2023 memoir, The Woman in Me, Spears addressed past controversies, stating her she had never used hard drugs and did not consider herself to have a drinking problem, although she acknowledged taking Adderall, a medication commonly prescribed for ADHD.
Spears’ personal struggles have long been in the public eye, particularly following her widely reported breakdown in 2007, which led to a court-ordered conservatorship under her father, Jamie Spears.
The conservatorship, which granted him control over her finances and personal affairs, remained in place until it was dissolved by a Los Angeles court in 2021 after sustained public advocacy under the “Free Britney” movement.
Her decision to seek rehabilitation is being viewed by observers as a step toward addressing recent challenges, as she prepares to face legal proceedings in the coming weeks.
