The Chairman of the Niger State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Bishop Bulus Yohanna, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intensify efforts to end insecurity and reduce food prices across the country.
Yohanna, who is also the Catholic Bishop of Kontagora Diocese, made the call in a message to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day celebration on Thursday.
He noted that the challenges confronting the nation, though daunting, were surmountable, stressing that Nigeria could overcome its current difficulties with God’s intervention and committed leadership.
“As a Body, CAN believes the challenges, even though enormous, are surmountable, and by the grace of God, there will be light at the end of the tunnel,” he said.

The cleric appealed to President Tinubu to stabilize the economy, tackle banditry, and create conditions for improved trade, reduced inflation, falling food prices, and a strengthened naira.
While congratulating Governor Mohammed Bago and residents of Niger State on the Independence anniversary, Yohanna encouraged citizens to remain prayerful for peace, unity, and prosperity.
He further charged Christians not to dwell solely on the negatives but to reflect on God’s mercies in sustaining Nigeria as one united nation despite its many challenges.
