Celine Dion has made a rare public appearance in Paris as she prepares for her highly anticipated return to the stage.
The Grammy-winning singer was spotted outside her hotel in the French capital on Friday, August 28, wearing a beige trench coat and sunglasses while greeting fans and photographers.
Dion’s appearance comes ahead of a series of performances scheduled to begin in Paris in September, marking another major step in her return to live music.
The upcoming shows will follow her emotional performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics, which marked one of her most significant public musical appearances in recent years.
Dion had previously described her upcoming Paris residency as a special birthday gift to herself.
In a video announcing the performances in March, the “My Heart Will Go On” singer told fans that the opportunity to perform for them again represented the best birthday gift she could receive.
“This year, I’m getting the best birthday gift of my life. I’m getting the chance to see you, to perform for you,” she said.
The singer’s return comes after years of health challenges stemming from stiff-person syndrome, a rare neurological disorder she publicly revealed in 2022.
The condition caused severe muscle spasms and significantly affected her ability to perform, forcing her to step away from regular live shows.
Despite the difficulties, Dion has remained determined to return to the stage.
Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar earlier this month, she said she wanted to give her fans something that reflected how much she had missed them.
“It’s been so long, I would like to offer them something to show how I’ve missed them,” she said.
Dion has also previously spoken about the intensive work she has undertaken with medical and fitness professionals to rebuild the strength and physical stamina required for live performances.
“The way I see it, I have two choices,” she said. “Either I train like an athlete and work super hard, or I switch off and it’s over.”
Her determination has made her planned return particularly significant for fans who have followed her health journey and prolonged absence from regular performances.
The Paris performances are expected to continue through May 2027, potentially marking the beginning of a new chapter in Dion’s celebrated career.
Her latest appearance in Paris has already generated excitement among fans, with the singer’s return to the stage representing not only a musical comeback but also a major personal milestone following years of health challenges.
