In a significant breakthrough, the Kano State Police Command has apprehended the wife and associates of Ahmad Adam Abba, a notorious Chadian terrorist linked to the massacre of 17 individuals in Chad.
The arrest follows a series of intelligence-driven operations aimed at dismantling any terrorist networks within the state.
Salman Dogo Garba, the Commissioner of Police in Kano, made the announcement on the 31st of January, 2025, revealing that the suspect had been plotting to establish a terrorist base in the state before fleeing Nigeria.
“The wanted Chadian suspected terrorist escaped out of Nigeria, but we have successfully apprehended three of his associates, including his wife, another Chadian, Jibrin Mohammed, 42, and a Nigerian,” Garba confirmed.
The operation, which was based on actionable intelligence, also led to the recovery of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). Investigations are currently underway to further unravel the suspects’ involvement in the terrorist network.
Garba assured the public that the police command had heightened surveillance and intelligence gathering in Kano to thwart any security threats.
“Our teams are collaborating closely with other intelligence agencies and local communities to identify suspicious activities or individuals who may pose a risk to security,” he said.
To further strengthen security, police patrols have been intensified in high-risk areas. The commissioner emphasized the importance of public cooperation, stating, “Building trust and collaboration between the police and the communities is crucial in combating crime and preventing emerging security threats.”
As investigations continue, the arrested suspects remain in custody while the police work to uncover their ties to the fugitive terrorist.
