Chaos in Nice: Terem Moffi Among Players Assaulted by Own Fans After Sixth Straight Defeat

Super Eagles forward Terem Moffi was reportedly attacked by irate OGC Nice supporters on Sunday night following the club’s 3-1 defeat to Lorient — their sixth consecutive loss in all competitions.

ESPN reports that nearly 400 Ultras gathered at the club’s training ground to confront the squad as they returned from the match.

Tensions quickly escalated, leading to violent assaults on several players.

Moffi was among those targeted, with eyewitness accounts revealing that the Nigerian striker was kicked and had his hair pulled during the chaos.

He has now been placed on a one-week sick leave, while teammate Jérémie Boga received a five-day medical break as a result of injuries sustained in the attack.

The pair visited local authorities on Monday to file official complaints against the alleged perpetrators.

In response, OGC Nice issued a firm statement condemning the violence, describing the actions of the fans as “unacceptable” and asserting that the club “condemns these acts with the highest toughness.”

The shocking incident has intensified scrutiny around the club’s ongoing slump in form, as frustrations among supporters continue to boil over.
