Chelsea has sacked its German Manager, Thomas Tuchel, after presiding over the club’s seven games in the season.
Tuchel was sacked on Wednesday after Chelsea on Tuesday defeated 1-0 in the Champions League defeat at Dinamo Zagreb.
In a statement, the English club announced they had “parted company” with the German.
Tuchel, 49, led Chelsea to Champions League glory in 2021 and the Club World Cup crown earlier this year.
His exit from Stamford Bridge came less than 20 months in charge.
“On behalf of everyone at Chelsea FC, the club would like to place on record its gratitude to Thomas and his staff for all their efforts during their time with the club,” the Premier League club said in a statement.
“Thomas will rightly have a place in Chelsea’s history after winning the Champions League, the Super Cup and Club World Cup in his time here,” the club announced.
Defending the decision, the Stamford Bridge club said, “As the new ownership group reaches 100 days since taking over the club, and as it continues its hard work to take the club forward, the new owners believe it is the right time to make this transition,” the statement said.
With three wins, one draw and two defeats in their opening matches this season, Chelsea are sixth in the Premier League table.
The club’s coaching staff will take charge of the team as the club “moves swiftly to appoint a new head coach”, Chelsea management added.
The club’s new ownership Todd Boehly and Behdad paid a world-record fee of £4.25 billion ($4.9 billion) for a sports franchise to buy Chelsea from Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich in May.
