Nigerian international and Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has been nominated for the prestigious 2025 Women’s Yachine Trophy, a Ballon d’Or accolade awarded to the best female goalkeeper in the world.
The 24-year-old’s nomination crowns a remarkable year both at club and international level. Nnadozie recently signed with Brighton Women FC following a stellar stint at Paris FC, where she helped the club clinch its first major title in nearly two decades.
Her performance in the final of the 2025 Coupe de France Féminine was nothing short of heroic, making crucial saves to guide Paris FC to a dramatic 5-4 penalty shootout victory over Paris Saint-Germain, after a goalless stalemate at Stade de l’Épopée in Calais.
Beyond club football, Nnadozie also played a pivotal role in Nigeria’s triumph at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). The Super Falcons defeated host nation Morocco to lift a record-extending 10th continental title, with Nnadozie’s consistent brilliance earning her the Best Goalkeeper award and a spot in the Team of the Tournament.

Her inclusion on the Yachine Trophy shortlist places her among elite global talent. Other nominees include Ann-Katrin Berger (Gotham FC), Cata Coll (Barcelona Femeni), Hannah Hampton (Chelsea Women), and Daphne van Domselaar (Arsenal Women).
The final winner will be announced later this year at the Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris, where the world’s top male and female players and goalkeepers will be honored.
Should Nnadozie win, she would become the first African woman to receive the Yachine Trophy — a landmark achievement that would further cement her legacy as one of the best goalkeepers of her generation.
