Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has cautioned parents and guardians against allowing their children to join cult groups, assuring that his administration is fully committed to their growth and future.
In a Children’s Day message issued on Tuesday, May 27, through his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, the governor celebrated young people across the state and the country, pledging to give them the tools they need to thrive.
“Governor Monday Okpebholo extends warm felicitations to all children in Edo State and across Nigeria on the occasion of Children’s Day.
“The governor urged parents and guardians to dissuade their children from joining cult groups,” the statement said.
According to him, the day is an opportunity to celebrate the “boundless potential, innocence, and vibrant spirit” of young people who represent the “true leaders of tomorrow.”
“Our children are our most precious assets. Their dreams are the blueprints for a brighter future for Edo State.

“As an administration, we are fully dedicated to investing in their development, protecting their rights, and nurturing their talents,” the governor noted.
He also highlighted major initiatives aimed at improving the lives of children in Edo, particularly through education, youth development, and the safeguarding of children’s rights.
“We believe that every child deserves a fair chance at success, irrespective of their background,” Governor Okpebholo stated.
“We will continue to work tirelessly to provide them with the necessary tools and support to excel in their academic pursuits, develop their skills, and contribute meaningfully to society.”
He called on parents, guardians, teachers, and stakeholders to guide children with sound values and mentorship, for a brighter and better future.
