Christmas: Tinubu Urges Nigerians to Uphold Love, Peace Unity

President Bola Tinubu has called on Nigerians to draw inspiration from the values of love, peace and tolerance as Christians across the country mark the 2025 Christmas celebration.

In his Christmas goodwill message issued on Wednesday, the President said the season provides a moment for deep reflection on the birth of Jesus Christ and His enduring message of hope, grace and goodwill to humanity.

Tinubu urged citizens to allow the spirit of Christmas to shape their interactions, particularly in fostering harmony across religious and ethnic divides.

He extended warm Christmas greetings to Christians in Nigeria and in the diaspora, while offering prayers for lasting peace and stability in the country.

The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the protection of religious freedom, stressing that all Nigerians, regardless of faith, must be able to live and worship without fear.

“As President, I remain fully committed to safeguarding religious liberty and ensuring the safety of people of all faiths,” Tinubu said.

Acknowledging the role of Christians in national development, Tinubu noted that the teachings of Christ have inspired compassion, service to the vulnerable and the promotion of peaceful coexistence in communities across the country.

He further assured Nigerians that since assuming office in 2023, his government has remained resolute in protecting the nation’s unity, security and stability in line with constitutional provisions.

According to the President, every citizen deserves the right to live, worship and pursue personal aspirations in safety and dignity, without discrimination or violence based on religious beliefs.

Tinubu also disclosed that his administration would continue to engage religious leaders to strengthen collaboration aimed at preventing conflict and deepening peaceful coexistence nationwide.

He advised Nigerians travelling during the festive season to remain patient and obey traffic regulations, wishing them safe journeys.

Expressing optimism about Nigeria’s future, the President said that with faith in God and collective commitment, the country would continue to make steady progress.
