Popular Nigerian media entrepreneur and television host, Chude Jideonwo, has stirred conversations online after claiming that many married gay individuals live in Lagos.
Jideonwo made the remark while responding to speculation about his sexuality following a recent interview he granted to TVC Communications.
Speaking in a snippet from his latest appearance on The Clarity Zone Podcast, the media personality addressed the rumours and used the moment to reflect on broader social issues, including the increasing presence of ritual-related advertisements on social media platforms.
Reacting to the speculation about him being gay, Jideonwo dismissed the claims while making a broader observation about society.
“When the TVC interview came out, people were saying maybe I’m gay,” he said. “I’m like Lagos is full of married gay people.”
The comment has since generated mixed reactions on social media, with some users debating the complexities surrounding sexuality, marriage and societal expectations in Nigeria.
Beyond the controversy, Jideonwo also expressed concern about the growing trend of individuals openly advertising ritual practices online.

According to him, he recently encountered multiple posts on social media platforms promoting ritual services, with some practitioners broadcasting live from what appeared to be shrines while interacting with viewers.
“Ritual is advertised on TikTok,” he said. “Native medicine — I have seen three people advertising, and people are engaging. One of the women was live from her shrine, and people were asking, ‘Mama, how can I reach you?’ with a phone number.”
He lamented the level of engagement such content attracts, describing it as troubling and reflective of a wider societal issue.
Jideonwo’s remarks have sparked discussions about the influence of social media, public perception of sexuality and the spread of controversial content online, particularly on platforms like TikTok.
The media personality, known for hosting interviews that explore social, cultural and personal issues, has not issued any further clarification on the comments as reactions continue to circulate across digital platforms.
