Long Jumper and Olympic Silver medalist, Ese Brume has jumped a new games record to win the Gold medal for Nigeria at the 2022 Commonwealth Bank in Birmingham on Sunday night.

Brume fouled on her opening attempt as Ghana’s Deborah Acquah took the early lead but shook off pressure to move to first place, leaping to a new Commonwealth Games record of 6.99m and pushing Acquah down to 2nd place.

In her final leap, Brume broke her Commonwealth record again by 1 meter, leaping 7.00m to reclaim her Commonwealth title as her compatriot Ruth Usoro couldn’t make the podium.

She pushed Nigeria’s gold medal tally to 12,  as the country battles it out with Scotland who are also with 12 gold medals albeit more silver medals to sixth and seventh place finish.
