A container-laden truck has crashed into road barriers and other vehicles around the exit of Kara Bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway after reportedly suffering brake failure.
The accident has caused significant traffic congestion on the busy highway, with the resulting backlog extending to the New Garage area.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Agency disclosed the incident in a Tuesday post on its X handle, saying recovery and evacuation operations had commenced at the scene.
According to the agency, the 40-foot container truck lost control after its brakes reportedly failed before ramming into demarcation blocks and other vehicles at the bridge exit.

LASTMA said its personnel, alongside police officers, had been deployed to the affected areas to manage traffic and assist with the removal of the damaged vehicles.
“Officers and police personnel are on the ground doing the needful,” the agency said.
It urged motorists using the expressway to remain patient and exercise caution while recovery operations continued.
The traffic management agency assured road users that all necessary measures were being taken to remove the obstructions and restore normal traffic flow.
“We implore motorists to be patient as all hands are on deck to ensure all impediments are cleared off the road,” it added.
