The Abia State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs. Gladys Adama, has charged members of the 2025 Batch ‘A’ Stream II to carry out their national assignment with “integrity, resilience and a commitment to national development.”
She gave the charge on Tuesday the 1st of July, 2025, at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Umunna, Bende Local Government Area, during the official closing of their three-week orientation course.
During her remarks, Mrs. Adama cautioned corps members to stay away from “communal conflicts, financial recklessness, or travelling at night.”
She stressed the importance of staying alert and upholding ethical standards throughout their service year.
She urged the new corps members to serve as role models in their communities and avoid any form of misconduct that could “tarnish the image of NYSC, derail their mission or compromise their safety.”
Instead, she encouraged them to make meaningful contributions and be remembered as “agents of transformation.”
Applauding their conduct throughout the camp, Mrs. Adama praised their “discipline, endurance, and dedication.”
She noted that the lessons learned during orientation would guide them as they begin their one-year service.

Reinforcing the need for national unity, she advised the corps members to embrace the culture of their host communities and show respect for their traditions.
According to her, integration and cultural awareness are key elements of the NYSC experience.
“This journey demands your utmost vigilance and integrity. Avoid actions that could compromise your safety, derail your mission, or tarnish the image of the NYSC or night travel, misconduct, and irresponsible financial behaviour,” she advised.
Mrs. Adama also urged them to take full advantage of the NYSC’s post-camp Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) initiative. She described it as a practical tool for “long-term self-reliance and economic empowerment.”
She concluded by instructing the corps members to head straight to their Places of Primary Assignment (PPA) after receiving their posting letters and inform the appropriate local government inspectors before traveling anywhere.
